Retention Marketer

As Retention Marketer @ Sunweb Group you structurally improve the retention from customers and prospects through all phases of the customer journey, path to purchase and throughout the customer lifecycle. 

Together with the specialists / marketers around you, you optimize the channels and media that our consumers actively and reactively use to find their next holiday experience. You are the go-to colleague for any customer retention plan / campaign / insight and work closely together with our full-stack marketing teams and digital marketing development teams. 


The following responsibilities / activities are part of your job:

  • Design & define retention formats throughout the customer journey:
    • Lead generation / nurturing before the booking 
    • Cross & up-sell, service experience after the booking and during the holiday 
    • Helping customers find their way back towards their next holiday
  • Initiate / lead / support retention pilots together with full-stack marketing teams; 
  • (Help) Define analytical framework for retention efforts and modelling;  

  • Train & support full-stack marketing teams with retention campaigns (creation / creative part / content / medium / etc.); 

  • Co-develop retention campaigns / programs in line with the marketing calendar; 

  • Manage and own the necessary tool-set (Customer Data Platform / Marketing Automation / Campaign Management tooling).

About the Team(s)

We have adopted a full agile way of working and continuously attract an increasing number of customers 

(+ 1 million last year) through self-organising marketing teams that we call full-stack as each team covers all channels for their focus (brand / region). We continuously deliver value through multiple development teams (10+) that are divided over 3 value streams (Marketing, Tour operating and Business Intelligence). You will work in and with multiple cross-functional teams to make sure that all the specialists around you get most out of the retention formats and activities that you provide. 

With(in) the development team(s), you work closely together to further develop our retention framework and capabilities, turning new (campaign) formats and associated data into value for our customers, prospects and business. You own the retention channel (optimization) roadmap, provide crucial input and design / definition to our Customer Data Platform development and work closely together with all data driven acquisition & retention marketing activities.


About You

You are an eager professional with great interest / enthusiasm / experience in ecommerce, retention marketing, online marketing and analytics. With strong collaborative skills and experience in working

with email / performance / campaign management / online marketers; you will be stationed in Rotterdam, nearest to business and customer, while being in daily contact with the full-stack marketing teams and development teams. Experience in working Agile is a big plus; training and coaching are part of (y)our focus on continuous improvement. 


Further core competences that are appreciated in this job:

  • Ownership; 
  • A bachelor/master’s degree in marketing, product development, commercial, economics, information technology or related field; 
  • Track record in retention marketing / ecommerce / analytics; 
  • Fluent in English.
